Are you planning to buy a wash basin. Below is a buying guide that will help you make the right decision.
The Basin is one of the most important part of your Bathroom, so it is worth taking the time to choose a basin that will complement your bathroom design and yet be comfortable to use.
At Decure.in we have an exhaustive range of Wash Basins of different styles and designs from the best Brands; and you can buy them online from the comforts of your house.
Types of basins:
Full Pedestal Basin:
This is the classic Basin style that most of us know about and is the first style that comes to our mind when we think of Basins.
In a full pedestal basin, there is a pedestal below the basin that goes all the way to the bathroom floor and hides all the pipe work. The Basin is mounted on the wall, so the pedestal isn’t taking the full weight of the basin
The full pedestal Basin can be used to conceal pipe work going into the floor of the basin. If your pipe work goes into the wall, prefer a Semi-Pedestal or Wall Mounted Basin
Classic, evergreen design. Conceals the piping systems
Usually takes up more space and blocks the bathroom floor
Semi Pedestal Basin:
The Semi Pedestal Basin is wall mounted and supported by, as the name suggests, a semi pedestal. The pedestal is a perfect way to hide the pipe work and yet give an elegant chic look to your bathroom.
The full pedestal Basin can be used to conceal pipe work going into the wall of the bathroom.
For a clean modern look that does not take away floor space below the sink.
May be difficult to make a cupboard below the sink
Wall Mounted Basins:
As opposed to a Pedestal or Semi-pedestal basin, wall mounted basins save space while same time looking elegant. They come in a variety of shapes and sizes and are best placed for some serious space saving
One of the other advantages of the wall mounted basins is that they can be fixed at any height. This is especially useful if you want to install a small basin at a lower height in your kids’ bathroom
Modern, contemporary option. Space saver, adjustable height
Plumbing pipes may be exposed
Table Top/ Vessel/ Bowl Basins:
This type of Basin is installed on top of the bathroom counter or vanity cabinet. It appears like it is a separate bowl on top of the counter. It gives a modern and luxurious look and is the in-trend style as far as wash basins are concerned.
Counter Top basins come in a wide range of shapes and sizes to suit your bathroom. The pipe work will be hidden below the counter or in the cabinet below.
Trendy, modern and luxurious look. Space for a counter/vanity cabinet below the basin
Will need a counter for installation/ may take up more space
Semi Recessed Basin:
A semi recessed Basin is partly sunk into the bathroom counter/vanity cabinet structure. This means that only the basin rim is visible and protruding out of the cabinet/counter line. The pipe work will be hidden below the counter or in the cabinet below.
Space for a counter/vanity cabinet below the basin
May take up space below in the cabinet
Counter Top Basin:
Similar to the Semi Recessed Basin, this type of basin is sunk into the counter or cabinet, with only a thin rim visible from above. This type of Basin is best suited to give prominence to your furniture and ensure the sink blends well with it.
Free Standing Basin:
As the name suggests, these basins are not installed against any support and stand independently. These basins can be used to create a very modern and luxury look for Bathrooms and can be best used for artistic elegance.
Below Counter Basin:
Here the basin is installed below the bathroom counter so as to give a smooth and unhindered look to the Bathroom counte.
